The route
Climb from the village by lanes and field paths onto the ridge, returning by a loop. Steep at the start and steady after.
Worth knowing
- The bells of Aberdyfi song refers to the drowned kingdom of Cantre’r Gwaelod said to lie under the bay.
- The estuary at low tide is a huge expanse of sand and channels.
- Steep lanes at the start; take it slowly.

Background
Aberdyfi was a shipbuilding and trading port, and the sandbar across the estuary mouth made it a difficult harbour to enter.
